So what I do with Google Earth?

I have to say that this has been a real discovery for me. Like many of you I was aware of Google Earth and used in in teaching purely as way to link places to what I was teaching (Italian). But thanks to my colleague Paul Brugman a brand new world of possibilities has opened in using Google Earth in teaching so thank you Paul!!

In this page I would like to share some tools, ideas and examples.

Mapping novels in Google Earth:

Google earth can be used for a variety of purposes in your teaching but if we just look a the usual topic we cover in language teaching then you can see the impact of using such a resources in your language class. Thanks to the details and accuracy of Google earth you can use it to teach: country landmarks, cities and regions, directions, geography, historical events, etc,

If you are fortunate enough to have an interactive white board or mobile devices in your classroom you can really have a really interactive lesson with Google Earth.

How about getting your students to plan a trip to a country and explain using Google Earth what they will or have visited?
Zooming in to a city and getting them to give direction to get to famous landmark
Cybervisiting historical places like Pompeii

let Google Earth take you to far away places without leaving your classroom.
